I have stayed at Hotel Polonia three times. Room 70 (a suite) was exceptional, Room 19 was close behind. I have also stayed in one of the standard rooms, which was also quite nice. I like the location - an easy walk from the train station, at a central hub for the tram and bus network, and not in old town but a short and pleasant walk to get there. The breakfast is quite good. I have used the restaurant for an espresso in the afternoon when I just wanted a pleasant place to write. The staff was friendly, and helpful when I had a special request. It has an older hotel feeling but nicely renovated. I have stayed at other hotels in Krakow, but in the end I prefer the Polonia.

Can’t think of any thing I didn’t like.

This is a quirky and almost charming hotel which is at the same time a restaurant and a publishing house and a venue for klezmer music. It has character, and I had lunch at the restaurant several weeks before my stay. The restaurant is quite good and is the reason I decided to stay there instead of the hotel I usually use in Krakow. The breakfast is lavish and a sit-down affair, not a buffet. There is even table service and a real espresso machine! The waitress in charge of breakfast was quite nice.

Sadly, there were for me quite a few small irritations which added up. For example, my room was at the end of a long hall with no windows and when I arrived no light, though it was afternoon outside. The hall was totally dark, though fortunately I carry a small flashlight. I could not find a switch and the reception person did not know how to turn the lights on. I asked again the next day and another person showed me the switch, which was two floors down. Another small thing is that there is no marking anywhere that I could see that showed where reception was, though it is not that hard to ask and turned out to be the counter in the restaurant. Just another small irritation. It was my fault I didn't ask for help with my luggage, as I had injured my knee and was using a cane. The room was two flights up with no elevator. Again, I should have asked when no offer of assistance was made. And again, when I arrived on time for breakfast there was no one there so I sat there and waited wondering what the future would bring. It was an odd little experience. A steady flow of niggling annoyances took the edge off of simply enjoying the place.

Spacious apartment in attractive location, well equipped in essentials. Convenient check-in. Wasn't noisy at nightime. Bathroom toiletries smelled lovely, and towels were without any stains.

Wish the pillows, mattresses, and sofabed were a bit more comfortable and that the host would check if we're okay with the lift being out of order at the time as we travelled with someone eldery.

Location is great, rooms are modern, clean. A very pleasant surprise when entering inside. AC works!

Confusing coridors, room was on the smaller side and there were limited places to unpack and hang my suite. Yet these are minor issues.

Good location. Shockingly I didn’t hear noise from other rooms.

Spend EUR 5 to replace the showerhead at least and clean the bathroom fan and address the hole in the bathroom ceiling. Room 1 windows don’t fully close so it’s noisy. Linens feel like all of Europe already used them.

Not exactly sure if this is lack of training or professionalism among both staff and management but I have encountered - despite staying for one night only - numerous instances of unpleasantries which from my and my families’ perspective ruined the final impression. This includes so trivial issues such as passing conflicting information every couple of hours but also - on arrival - initially completely ignoring the rate locked in via booking com while arguing the cost should be grossed-up with VAT/other room charges effectively questioning the booking.
