We enjoyed an excellent starter and main course in the restaurant on our first night. The staff were friendly and helpful, with one lady going out of her way to find us some pictures and show us rooms relating to W.S.Gilbert, one of the reasons we had wanted to visit the house. The house itself is well looked after, the gardens beautiful, the location tranquil.
The hotel has plenty of car parking - given the location of the hotel, up a long private drive and well away from the road, along with good lighting and CCTV, it felt a secure place to leave our car.
Despite its shortcomings - see below - we did enjoy our stay at Grim's Dyke and will visit again in the future. A little extra care and effort would bring it up to the four star experience that the house deserves.
This property is a Georgian Country House Hotel. Guests can enjoy a delicious afternoon tea, stroll through 12 acres of gardens, and relax by the main leisure pool.

So much to love here! Surroundings/Location was amazing. Room (deluxe king) was so lovely, comfortable and really clean! Check in and out was really easy, quick and efficient.
Spa facilities were OK, nothing necessarily to shout about, but they were nice.
Food was amazing! We dined in the Glasshouse where they have their buffet. Not an ordinary buffet, it's around £80, but the choice is incredible, the quality was 10/10, flavours etc, just amazing. Staff were super attentive. Definitely didn't get £80's worth, but only because I was so full. But it was nice to be able to eat one plate of curry, then pasta then a roast! Great selection.
Breakfast was also a buffet and with a great selection once again. Unlike a lot of buffets, it was actually very clean and replenished constantly.
We booked as it was our 10 year anniversary, the hotel had some anniversary chocolates waiting in our room which was a lovely touch!
Overall, amazing stay, just looking at the diary to try and book 2 nights this time!
The room was a decent size and the en suite was excellent...
The room was a decent size and the en suite was excellent with a good assortment of soap, shower foam, shampoo and conditioner.
Secondary glazing kept the traffic noise to a very acceptable level.
We had a simple one course dinner on our first night which was nicely cooked and presented. I enjoy a beer and the Youngs was very good. There was a nice cooked breakfast each morning. We were at a wedding so no more main meals were taken at the hotel except for breakfast on our morning of departure. The 11 am checkout gives you plenty of time to pack and depart. Radlett was not explored but it is a very nice spot with access to some of Hertfordshire's visitor attractions. The Red Lion has its own car park which is a very short walk away for which no charge is made. We would certainly come here again!

It's nothing special.
It's nothing special. You have to be pretty rich to live here, or drive an expensive car! There are some decent places to get food: Indian restaurants, a chippie, Pizza Express, but you wouldn't come here unless you were on business or visiting someone.
Also, being on the A5, it's very busy during the rush hour. Don't come here for a romantic getaway!
An excellent stay in a very pleasant hotel - the room was very comfortable and suited all of our needs.
The location on the main street is very close to the railway station and shops and cafes.
The food was excellent with the breakfast providing us with an excellent start to the day.
All of the staff were very helpful and the girl serving the breakfasts was extremely professional.
We will certainly make a return visit to this lovely inn when the cricket is planned to be held there again.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Redlion Hotel. From the moment I entered the staff were welcoming and very polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Super clean and comfortable room along with a really relaxing atmosphere at the Hotel. I will be coming here again for future stays. I would especially like to say thank you to Sammy who couldn’t do enough for me.
To be fair we din't spend a lot of time in Radlett. I am sure it is a that has a lot to offer, but our itinerary was very busy. So it would have been better, in our case, to have stayed nearer Watford for example. The drive through the local countryside back and forth to the Hotel was lovely though.
I knew of this Hotel from growing up in Radlett but I'd never stayed in it. I have lived in the North but still have family nearby. My daughter and my grandchildren loved our stay because the hotel is very traditional so much more homely than modern Hotels, plus the staff were excellent
Hotel and staff was beyond my expectations! The food is to die for, I only stayed a night and I had 3 meals there including breakfast!
They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay and honestly can not wait to visit again!
Staff were friendly, bathroom was modern, excellent location for visiting family in Radlett and the train station which is directly opposite. Our room was at the back of the hotel so no road or traffic noise.
Train strike was a pain .. but no fault of Hotel. Was in room 5 .. bed was soo comfortable … shower was fantastic as well. Really good value for money. thanks
