The hotel just at the end of renovation. Very clean, everything new. Located very close to the city centre. We have found communication with hotel staff a bit difficult, as we don't speak Spanish, but but when finally understood, they fulfilled our requests.

I liked Loja better then Cuenca. It is more relaxed, cleaner, and has a wealthier feel to it. People are very nice and welcoming. Podocarpus is a gem, I advise people to find a way to visit (there are very few outfitters, but there is a couple).

One of the most amazing province in Ecuador.
One of the most amazing province in Ecuador. Beautiful landscapes from dry to cloud forests. It is needed at least one week to travel around the main city and the rural areas. Also, one of the best coffee producers places around the globe. Traditional food is exceptional too! And people, very gentle too.

Beautiful calm city with plenty of things to do!
Beautiful calm city with plenty of things to do! Many museums and beautiful streets! I was enjoyable just wandering the streets and visiting stores and churches that we stumbled upon. I would recommend wandering around the town before going to the Museo de la Cultura Lojana because one of the most rewarding parts is seeing the old pictures of the city. However, you can really only appreciate those old pictures if you know what those sites looks like today. Regarding the museums, not all the information regarding openings is up to date. I would make sure to check with the visitor center in the Puerta de la Ciudad to confirm which museums are open. (Even though it said it was open online, el Museo de la Musica was closed due to renovations).
Recommendations:
-Puerta de la Ciudad
-Museo de la Cultura Lojana
-Museo de las Madres Conceptas de Loja
-Plaza de Independencia/San Sebastian
-All of the churches, very beautiful
-Parque Lineal de la Tebaida
-Mercado Central (en el 10 de agosto). Great breakfasts at great prices!
Very easy to catch a taxi in Loja. However, I also navigated most of the city by foot.

Beautiful city, nice people, a lot of places to visit, food excellent and cheap comparing other cities, people are willing to help, you can ask any question, if they don't understand English, they will figure it out, even asking other people at the street.
You will never find yourself lost in this city .
I will recommend the best place to have a local beer with the "Artesanal del Barón de la Cerveza", plus some delicious *Tapas*, the place is named **LA TASQUITA EC**, excellent black beer, affordable.
I love it, definitive I will come back .

Very nice setting in the Andes.
Very nice setting in the Andes. Spring-like temperatures year-round. Lots of festivities, especially in the fall. Nice vibe in the central city. Friendly people. Quite inexpensive overall. Close to all kinds of great mountains to hike in. Known as the music capital of Ecuador; free concerts every Thursday evening in the Plaza Sebastian. An amazing number of different restaurants with good food. (Try Dumas Restaurant close to the Central Cathedral.) The city is famous for the coffee grown in the surrounding area. Lots of lovely parks.

In the past Loja was just a place to come from Vilcabamba to buy things unavailable in Vilcabamba. But the city of Loja is the artistic capital of Ecuador and in my opinion, is a cleaner city than Cuenca or Vilcabamba.
The place was super clean and tidy. There was a swimming pool to take a nice dip after a long day of hiking and relax in a peaceful environment. Michelle was super helpful, accommodating, and spoke good English as my Spanish is a working progress to say the least. It was definitely the comfiest bed I've stayed in since travelling and I highly recommend staying here if you are in vilcabamba. Short taxi ride from the bus station to the accommodation (5 minutes) 😁.
We liked our accommodation. We had a room, a sitting area and, of course, a bathroom. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The property is well located to get around in Loja and the staff quickly get a cab if you need one. It was also an easy walk to down town and there are restaurants and bakeries scattered around the neighborhood. We had a quiet peaceful time here, it was a good introduction to Loja.
I have stayed in La Casa de Manuel already a couple of times and it never disappoints. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff is always super friendly and the breakfasts are delicious! Will totally recommend it for short or long stays in Loja. The location of the hotel as well is super-centric, and quite easy to access in walking distance to many restaurants and main attractions.
The room is spacious and clean. Towels are provided. There is also a tv with Netflix. The host is very friendly, and he let us use the washing machine for free. The neighborhood is quiet and so is the room. There are groceries and restaurants nearby. It is a 15/20min walk to the central market region. Very good value for money in Loja
It's an older building, not far from the historic Puerta de Loja. It's on a fairly busy street, 2 blocks off University Avenue. Still, at night, everything quiets down nicely. I found all I needed nearby: restaurants, small stores, lavaderia (clothes washing) and some nice walking areas.
The staff was super friendly and welcoming, it felt like a home stay or a visit to some distant relative’s house rather than a stay at a hotel. The room was big and comfortable and the breakfasts were fantastic. This definitely ended up being one of our favorite stays in all of Ecuador.
Staff were very attentive and changed my room on account of the TV noise from the neighboring room which was far too audible. Rooms are well appointed, modern and clean. Food was good but limited choice in menu. Nice, quiet location away from all the traffic in Loja.
2nd stay!
Same as the first one.
A world class hotel in the heart of Loja.
Great quiet, comfortable and functional room!
Excellent staff!
Thanks to Narcisa, Christian and the young receptionist. (Forgot his name)
Lovely family run hotel. Secure parking for our motorcycles. We ate at the hotel and it was delicious, simple food and great value. Breakfast was good too. Everyone was so lovely and helpful.
This is the best value in Loja. For $15 per day, the room was very clean, spacious, centrally located. Internet was fast, shower was hot and the bed was comfortable.
