Unfortunately we arrived quite late so not really able to explore the village, though we did have a walk around the grounds of the Abbey. We would have liked to visit the Astin Martin museum though found out it was actually closed on Sundays. Very interesting historic village.
Very interesting historic village. Little through traffic thanks to the bypass so quiet. Dorchester Abbey is well worth a visit. Lovely walks all around, lots of footpath signs. A 10 minute easy walk brings you to the bypass where you can catch a frequent bus service into Oxford/Wallingford, and the buses run until early morning!Lloyd613United Kingdom - 10Scored 10

It was our first visit there and we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful this village was, full of old traditional charm and quaint cottage style houses. There were a few pubs there offering a variety of food and drinks. We really enjoyed the fish platter at The George Inn as their Friday offer. We had a pleasant walk around the village and visited the Old Abbey.

There was a long list of staff vacancies in the toilets which clearly speaks volumes. Our room was super and clean. Great shower and tea/coffee making facilities. Comfortable bed. Beautiful location. The room was large with a large ensuite bathroom too. We had dinner in the restaurant that evening and the food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The sea bass was large and beautifully cooked, the Gnocchi with Pulled Pork was melt in your mouth. Breakfast was equally good.
