Muthu Westcliff Hotel (Near London Southend Airport), hotel in Southend-on-Sea

Dating back to 1891, this magnificent Victorian hotel is close to the seafront with spectacular views over the Thames Estuary.

We were visiting relatives in leigh on sea. The property was central and within walking distance to Southend. Parking was available outside the hotel. We loved the breakfast. The lady was very obliging. The bed was very comfortable with clean sheets.

I went just at the start of the Easter break, and it was nice and quiet, I imagine it being a popular summer resort. Good facilities with plenty of eateries. Travelling around Southend was okay, gets busy during rush-hour. Great long walks along the esplanade and the pier. A lot of the shops were closed during close-season.

I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead. In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.

Going around visiting places. Eating out.

Going around visiting places. Eating out. Great taxi service. Hotel was not so good. Not disabled friendly. Fell in bathroom not built for anyone who is disabled.. Hurt myself quite bad. Screaming in agony. Apart from that. Will not be staying in this hotel again

Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!)

Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!) is actually really nice. We didn't expect much (we expected Morecambe, but got Southport!). There decent shops; the promenade was clean and open. We ate in The Last Post, but would certainly try other places when we visit again. It is hard to give a fair representation of a town after a very brief visit, but it made a sufficiently good impression for us to want to see more, when the opportunity arises

We had a fantastic time but will never bist Toby carvery"s half way house again as staff were rude and couldn't deliver on an ice cream pudding and then charged us over our Groupon voucher people were leaving by the bucket load due to the apaulling service and badly trained staff a complaint to Toby carvery is in the process. But other than that Southend on sea is a lovely place a great beach and super shopping centre and old Leigh had the best seafood I had tasted in a long time

Lovely, comfortable room and very clean and new. Nice extra touch with the fresh milk, coffee and tea. Really close to the beach and free, easy parking just a short walk away. Only a mile to the pier and to the main shops and restaurants although there are other restaurants and bars just up the road from Edelweiss. Thank you Zara, will definitely stay again if we are in Southend on Sea and would recommend to Friends and Family.

The location is great, it's not on the seafront but just one road inwards. You can see the sea as soon as you step out of the hotel. It's away from the crowded touristy areas which was a plus. There are really nice gardens with sea view just few mins walk. The family that runs this is super nice and provided great service!! The room was spacious enough to give some extra space to relax on the sofa!!

Everything. Ive stayed at a few hotel's in Southend. Staff are always on hand. No noise from other rooms or people walking around. A tiny bit of noise from the beer garden and I mean tiny, that's to be expected. Rooms are amazing and great value for money. Cheap drinks and food downstairs. The most central hotel in Southend, best prices and facilities. We'll done.

Breakfast was good, but not very hot and the eggs were over done. The waitress was very attentive and polite. The room was clean and the bathroom was very clean. The shower was a walk in and was ideal for my friend and myself. who have arthritis. The hotel needs up dating in the decorating, the bathroom was very up to date. Overall very welcoming.

Location is great, walk to the bottom of the lovely road and you can catch the train to Leigh On Sea or Southend, or you can walk along the seafront. The road the apartment is situated on is lovely and you are stones throw away from shops and cafes. Host was excellent, great communication. We will be booking again for our next visit

Everything! The Hotel was fantastic: very clean, nice decor, exceptional location overlooking the Southend Pier and Amusement Park, but best of all was Debbie, the Manager. Fantastic, kind as could be, an excellent chef who prepared my complimentary full english breakfast for me daily.

I was having a work trip in Manchester and stayed at 4 star hotel just before I started my holiday in Sounthend. The Last Post room had much more character, better shower and bigger room. And was like half the price!
