Chris and Sinead were incredible hosts and made us feel at home from check-in. The breakfast each morning was something we looked forward to each day. It was restaurant quality (wife asked for a recipe) and the soft background music (personal note here) was spot on. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The property is located near a bus stop, so getting around isn’t an issue. Lastly, it’s a 2 minute (max) skip down to the beach. It’s one block away.

The guest house was a second home to us. The owner was very kind and our room was just the right size with everything we could have hoped for. Buses into town are only 5 minutes apart. There is a parking lot right across the street without a parking fee. Great stay!

The bed was super confortable and the shower was very good as well. The Brae is located in front of the bus stop and is not far from the main street. The host was very helpful with our questions.

This accommodation, most importantly, had three features that I require but one of them, at least, is rarely found. First, open windows on a pleasant and quiet outdoor area. Second, a good hot shower. And third -- it baffles me why I so rarely find this -- is a sheet, not a duvet on the bed. The trend seems to be that all hotels, B&Bs etc have duvets on the bed, which are too warm and it is too difficult to adjust one's temperature while sleeping at night. I usually simply take the comforter part of the duvet out of its covering so I have control over my sleeping temperature. But at Rathan House, like few others, the bed covering was ideal, totally adjustable to one's desired temperature. And the quirkiness of the proprietor -- remarked upon in other comments on the place -- is obviously meant to be a feature, not a bug. Unfortunately I was not able to partake of the breakfast, which I suspect would have been an experience on its own.
