The hotel is near the castle - a good location for central Nottingham. The hotel offers all things you would expect from a business hotel. Outstanding, though, was the breakfast staff. One of the waiters (Jose), despite being really busy clearing tables, insisted he had nothing more important to do that fetch us fresh coffee.

The bed was super comfy, although once we lifted the bottom sheet, we discovered it wasn't actually a mattress, just a large piece of foam.

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.
The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.
During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making centre and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighbouring Hockley is home to the National Ice Centre and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centres are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Centre.
In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is south-west of Long Eaton.

The University of Nottingham campus is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city with its grassy spaces, views of the lake and beautiful trees. We had a car, and we were provided with a free parking permit for the duration of our stay. Transport around the city is easy by tram or bus.
We ate at the Orchard restaurant on campus where the menu is good, but there is also a small well stocked supermarket in the Portland building.
Wollaton Hall and deer park nearby is well worth a visit with lovely walks, a nice cafe and the house has interesting exhibitions and friendly informative staff. There is also a childrens; outdoor play area.

None of the shops display the number of the street that they are in. I spent some time trying to find a particular shop. I found the street, but without numbers on the properties, I walked back and forth. I did not visit any of the 'popular places' listed below.
A shopping centre is being demiolished in the middle of the city, involving walking around a building site. Speaking to someone the next day, I gather that the work has been going on for some time.

As an older traveller I found the city centre a little daunting (I lived there in my 20s). I think it has was is called a "vibrant" atmosphere. Lots of different cultures rubbing shoulders which was lovely, and tons of students. Nice to go back for a visit

Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre. Some nice high quality shops, with several empty unoccupied shops as in most city and town centres. It is over 40 years since my last visit and I feel sure it has improved since my last visit.

I'm a quiet person so I don't enjoy loud and busy streets.
I'm a quiet person so I don't enjoy loud and busy streets. Too many dark areas and alleyways.
Plenty of places to eat though, varied selections.
Nice areas to walk as well with historic monuments.
The property was absolutely spotless! The bedroom was a decent enough size, I didn’t use the kitchen but it was massive. Although there were other people staying in the property, you didn’t really notice due to the size. Loved the private bathroom and the house was close enough to the centre to get an Uber which arrived to us within a few minutes. The host appears to live in the property and he was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this stay as a cheap alternative to saying in a hotel in the city centre.
The bathroom was good, the room was big enough. The location was excellent with a number of good cafés and pubs near by as well as easy access to the city centre by bus. The manager was friendly and knowledgeable, check in was efficient. It was possible to park my car on the property except for one day out of the week I was there. There was a small table and chair as well as a bedside table and more mains sockets than anyone could need in addition to two USB charging sockets.
The hotel is right in the city centre, so it was very easy to walk to many attractions. There are many bars and restaurants nearby. Check in procedure is clear and easy and the room is quite spacious. The walls of the room are thick enough not to hear noise in the other rooms. It is possible to cook your meals there. The deposit returned the next working day (check out was on Friday and the full amount was released on Monday).
Rooms were lovely, clean and quiet.
Although it was near a main road - we couldn't hear the noise from it.
We were up for a work conference locally but it is an ideal for people wanting to visit the centre of Nottingham but not stay in it. There are regular busses that take 15 minutes to get there.
And finally not only is parking included room rates are fantastic
2nd time staying in this hotel, and it was just as good the 2nd time.
Great location 5 mins walk from the train station and 10 mins walk or less from everywhere you'd want to go in the centre of Nottingham.
Room very clean, beds super comfortable, air con was a god send & it was very quiet despite being near a main road.
- Rooms are extremely cheap and just like how the old saying goes "you get what you pay for".
- Parking right at the front of the hotel, with no extra charge at all
- The women cleaner we met was extremely nice
- 80/90s decor throw-back experience
- Very close to city centre
It is a lovely secluded hotel split between the city centre and the park. The room is very comfortable and the access to the terrace would have been perfect if it was not raining (England). Would definitely recommend even though it is on the pricier side.
Really nice hotel. So close to everything..city centre just a few minutes walk and it's just around the corner from the castle.. also it's just up the road from the bus stop and the sky link bus will bring you to the airport for only 2 pounds
The hotel is in the city centre so close to bars and restaurants, as well as shops.
Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space.
Room and bathroom well equipped and clean.
Decent breakfast on both mornings, plenty of hot and cold food.
Perfect for three of us to stay in Nottingham for the night. Absolutely great location, just 15 mins walk to the centre. Comfey rooms and great shower. Ideal for a night or two.
Exceptionally clean and well presented hotel with all the facilities you could ask for. I needed secure parking and got exactly what I needed. Great location in the city centre.
Quiet location but close enough to city centre. Helpful staff, spacious hotel, free onsite parking. Room was clean, comfortable and at a really great price. Peaceful stay!
The location is really good, being in the middle of the center of Nottingham but, for me, that was kind of the only one out of a few qualities of my stay at the hotel.
